What's New In Vuforia Expert Capture?
Here's a spotlight on what's new in the Vuforia Expert Capture 3.19.0 release:
APIs and Integrations:
Self-Service with PTC Service Principals
We have been tirelessly working under the hood to make our APIs more expansive and easier to use so that you can integrate as-run procedure data or procedure execution data with your systems and workflows. In this release, we are happy to announce that our APIs are now compatible with PTC Service Principles. With service principals, admins can go into the PTC Admin Center, create the service principals, and immediately use the APIs. No requests to tech support, no waiting—just immediate self-service APIs when you need them!
Where can I use procedure data?
Our APIs offer access to a list of published procedures and retrieve run data and image feedback based on a procedure ID or serial number. Get started with our new APIs today to make AR an essential part of your workflow by connecting to other business systems, for example:
- Connect to your Learning Management system to ensure your employees have met training requirements before starting new tasks in the field.
- Connect to your Field Service Management System to record the completion of procedures executed as part of service and maintenance tickets.
- Connect to your servers to store an audit history of the procedure and step completion status (pass/fail), including images captured during execution, for proof that work was completed as expected.
- Connect to other work systems to enable frontline workers to directly access the Vuforia Expert capture catalog in their daily task management tool.
How to Create and Manage Service Principles
But that's not all!
With each release, we have a ton of new improvements. Here are just a few other highlights from the last releases:
- Step Check™ Auto-Proceed on 'Pass' or 'Fail' - Authors can now configure Step Check to auto-proceed when the work was done correctly (pass) or incorrectly (fail).
- iOS/Android - Improved highlighting effect makes it easier for your workers to see through highlighted objects and not obstruct their view of the real-world object.
- Depreciation: GET Method for Accessing Procedure Execution Data - Please be aware that the GET method for Accessing Procedure Execution Data will be deprecated in the 3.21.0 release (early 2025). Going forward, we recommend using the POST method.
